It has been less than three days since bloggers published their reviews of the Apple Vision Pro, and Apple has already had to swiftly address a security issue by rolling out a new update.
The issue, reportedly found in the Safari browser component, could allow hackers to access user data. Apple and security experts believe that hackers might have already exploited this vulnerability. Last week, this problem was also fixed on other Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple TVs.
Apple has not disclosed whether hackers specifically targeted the Vision Pro or if the vulnerabilities were discovered through external testing. However, it is known that the vulnerable component, called WebKit, is a prime target for hackers since it can access personal information and control the entire device.
This flaw is particularly risky as it could harm users if they visit malicious websites or use dangerous applications via the headset. Last year, Apple had to address similar issues multiple times. For instance, in January 2023, a similar problem could have allowed hackers to take control of older iPhones and iPads.
Moreover, in October, researchers found a method that hackers could use to steal passwords and other information from Apple devices.
