A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless circular saw.
This section covers cordless handheld circular saws with 140–190 mm blades for 12, 18, 20 and 40 V class platforms. They are designed for straight and bevel cuts in timber, boards, chipboard, plywood and laminate in roofing, flooring, furniture and formwork jobs. Being cable-free is especially convenient on job sites, at height and in the garden, where a power outlet is far away.
Compact 140–165 mm models are light and convenient for home and furniture jobs, while 165–190 mm saws are built for thick boards and construction lumber. Household models suit occasional use, professional ones handle daily workloads. See differences between professional and household power tools.
Blade diameter and bore must match the saw's specifications. A 16–24 tooth blade rips quickly along the grain, while a 40–60 tooth blade gives a clean cut in laminate and plywood. Read how to choose a circular saw blade and how to choose saw-blade tooth count.
Cutting depth at 90° is usually 40–65 mm, and the bevel adjusts within 0–45° or 0–50°. A base plate compatible with a guide rail helps produce long, accurate cuts. See circular saw cutting depth, bevel angle, and guide system.
18–20 V saws are all-rounders, while 36–40 V models approach the performance of corded saws. A 4–6 Ah or larger battery is recommended for a circular saw, since small packs drain quickly in thick timber. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).
Many saws are sold body-only, without a battery and charger, which pays off if you already own batteries of the same platform. Check whether a blade, rip fence and case are included. Read what is a unified battery platform.
A brushless motor uses battery energy more efficiently and holds speed better under load. No-load speed of cordless saws is usually 3500–6000 RPM, and an electronic brake stops the blade quickly. See brushed and brushless motor and what is rotational speed (RPM).
A saw with a battery typically weighs 2.5–4.5 kg, so balance and rubberised grips matter during long work. A dust extraction port and LED light keep the cutting line clean and visible. Read tool ergonomics, weight, and safety systems.
Check that the lower guard returns freely, clamp the workpiece and do not stand in line with the blade to avoid kickback. Always remove the battery before changing the blade. Read how to use a circular saw safely and how to use cordless tools safely.
At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless circular saws by blade diameter, cutting depth, voltage, motor type and kit contents and choose the right model for your jobs.
