LED Floodlights and Work Lights: for Sites, Yards and Warehouses

LED Floodlights and Work Lights: for Sites, Yards and Warehouses

Floodlights and work lights

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a floodlight or work light.

This section covers mains-powered lighting for construction sites, workshops, warehouses, garages, yards and facades: LED floodlights for wall or pole mounting, floodlights with motion sensors, tripod work lights and portable 220 V work lamps with a protective cage. For an overview, read what electrical equipment is and how it is classified.

What to consider when choosing a floodlight or work light

Floodlight type

A fixed LED floodlight suits permanent lighting of yards, facades, warehouses and car parks, a tripod floodlight suits construction and renovation work, and a portable work lamp suits garages, basements and hard-to-reach places. On lighting equipment: how to choose lighting and emergency lighting electrical equipment.

Luminous flux, colour temperature and beam angle

Compare luminous flux (lm), not just power (W), as quality LED floodlights deliver more lumens per watt. Neutral or cool light (about 4000–6500 K) suits work, while a wide beam lights a large area and a narrow beam reaches distant objects. Learn more: lumens, colour temperature and beam angle: how to compare floodlights.

Moisture protection and housing

For outdoor and site use, choose a floodlight protected against dust and water jets, such as IP65; an aluminium housing and tempered glass dissipate heat better and resist impact. See what is an IP rating.

Power supply, cable and insulation

Check the cable length, whether a plug is fitted and the insulation class, which matter when working in damp conditions. On insulation class: what is insulation class; on sockets, plugs and extension leads: how to choose sockets, plugs, extension leads and power strips.

Mounting, tripod and sensors

The bracket should let you aim the floodlight at the required angle, a tripod should have a stable base and adjustable height, and a motion or dusk sensor switches the light on only when needed. Lighting is part of workplace safety: how to organize a safe workplace.

Inspection, cleaning and storage

Before use, check the cable, plug and glass for damage, clean dust off the glass and heat sink regularly, and store portable floodlights in a dry place. Read how to inspect a tool before use and how to store power tools correctly.

Safe temporary lighting

On site, connect floodlights to a circuit protected by a residual current device, route cables so they are not damaged and do not obstruct walkways, and never aim light into the eyes of workers or drivers. Read how to set up temporary site lighting safely, essential power tool safety rules and how to choose electrical protection and switching devices.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare floodlights and work lights by type, luminous flux, colour temperature, protection rating and mounting and choose the right model for your construction site, workshop, warehouse or yard.
