A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless stapler or nailer.
This section covers 12, 18 and 20 V class cordless staplers, brad and finish nailers, as well as framing and concrete nailers. They are used for upholstery, fitting skirting boards and wall cladding, assembling timber structures, fixing membranes and mesh and in electrical installation work. A cordless nailer needs no compressor or air hose, so it is just as convenient on site as in the workshop or at home.
Staplers suit upholstery and fixing membranes and cables, brad and finish nailers suit skirting, cladding and furniture, while framing and concrete models handle heavy construction work. A light stapler is enough for home use; professional work calls for a powerful nailer.
Check which fasteners the tool accepts: 6–14 mm staples, 15–50 mm brads (18 Ga), 25–65 mm finish nails (16 Ga) or 50–90 mm framing nails. Nail length should be about 2–3 times the thickness of the material being fixed. See how to choose an electric tacker or nailer: fastener type, length, and firing rate.
Nailers typically fire 1–3 nails per second in single or sequential (bump) mode. Tool-free depth adjustment lets you countersink a nail or leave it flush, while a magazine for 100+ nails and dry-fire lockout save time and protect the surface.
The 12 V class is enough for staplers, while finish and framing nailers are usually 18–20 V. A finish nailer on a 2.0 Ah battery can drive from several hundred to 1,000 or more nails per charge. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).
If you already own batteries for the same platform, you can choose a body-only version; for a first purchase, a kit with battery, charger and case is more practical. Batteries from different makers are not interchangeable. Read what is a unified battery platform and how to choose a battery and charger.
A brushless motor recovers firing energy faster, drives more nails per charge and lasts longer. Framing nailers use flywheel or air-spring mechanisms that give consistent depth in hardwood. See brushed and brushless motor.
Staplers weigh about 1–1.5 kg, finish nailers 2.5–3.5 kg and framing nailers 3.5–4.5 kg with battery. A rubberised grip, LED light, belt hook and narrow nose make work in corners and overhead easier. See tool ergonomics, weight, and safety systems.
A nailer fires only with its nose pressed against the surface, but never point it at people; remove the battery when loading the magazine or clearing a jam, and wear safety glasses. Read how to use cordless tools safely and tool safety systems and their purpose.
At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless staplers and nailers by fastener type and length, voltage, firing rate, magazine capacity and weight and choose the right model for your jobs.
