A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless paint sprayer.
This section covers cordless paint sprayers — handheld HVLP models and compact airless units, mostly 18–20 V, with higher-output models at 36–40 V. They are used for painting walls, fences, doors, furniture and metal structures and for applying varnish and wood preservative. With no cable, they are convenient in the yard, on site and wherever there is no socket, for both home and professional work. For a comparison with corded models, read how to choose an electric paint sprayer.
HVLP sprayers use a high volume of air at low pressure to lay a thin, even coat and suit varnishes, enamels and furniture. Airless models deliver paint at high pressure and quickly cover large areas of walls and fences. See how to choose an airless paint sprayer.
Cordless HVLP models usually deliver 300–1000 ml/min with nozzle sizes of 1.0–2.6 mm. Check the maximum material viscosity the unit accepts and whether spray pattern and flow can be adjusted. Read electric paint sprayer delivery rate, nozzles, and paint viscosity.
18–20 V models are enough for furniture, doors and sections of fence, while 36–40 V sustains higher pressure and flow. A 4–5 Ah battery usually lasts for 1–2 containers of paint. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).
If you already own tools on the same platform, you can choose a body-only version and use your existing batteries. For a first purchase, a kit with battery and charger is more convenient. Read what is a unified battery platform and how to choose a battery and charger.
Handheld models usually have a 0.8–1.2 l container: a bottom-mounted cup suits walls, a top-mounted one suits small parts and varnishes. Airless models can draw paint straight from the bucket, which speeds up large jobs, and a brushless motor sprays more paint per charge. See what is a brushless motor.
With a battery and a full container, a sprayer can weigh 2.5–4 kg, so balance, a rubberised grip and a smooth trigger matter. For long sessions, models with a quick-release container are more convenient. Read tool ergonomics, weight, and safety systems.
Work in a ventilated area, never point the spray at people and remove the battery before filling the container. Flush the nozzle and passages after every use, and wear a respirator, goggles and gloves while spraying. At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless paint sprayers by type, voltage, delivery rate, nozzles, container size and weight and choose the right model for your painting jobs.
