Cordless Wall Chasers: for Cable and Pipe Chases

Cordless Wall Chasers: for Cable and Pipe Chases

Cordless Wall Chasers

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless wall chaser.

This section covers cordless wall chasers — single- and twin-blade models with 115–150 mm diamond blades running on 18 V, 36–40 V (including 2×18 V) and 54 V batteries. They cut chases in concrete, brick, plaster and aerated block for laying electrical cables, pipes and concealed services. Having no cable is convenient on sites without mains power yet and when moving from room to room, both in renovation and in professional electrical work.

What to consider when choosing a cordless wall chaser

Type and purpose

Twin-blade chasers cut both walls of the chase at once, and the core is then removed with a chisel, while single-blade models suit short chases and cuts. See how to choose a wall chaser.

Chase depth and width

Cordless models usually cut 8–45 mm deep, and the chase width is adjustable from 3 to 30 mm with spacers between the blades. The blades must match the wall material. See how to choose a diamond disc.

Dust extraction

A wall chaser produces very fine dust, so choose a model with an enclosed guard and an extraction port and use an M-class vacuum. Read vacuum cleaner filters, dust containers and dust classes and how to choose a respirator.

Battery voltage and capacity

18 V models are enough for plaster, aerated block and short chases, while 36–54 V systems are preferable for long chases in concrete. A capacity of 5–9 Ah determines how many metres of chase you get per charge. Read cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).

Platform and kit

Check compatibility with your existing battery platform and whether the kit includes blades, spacers, a chisel and a case or the tool is sold bare. See what is a unified battery platform.

Brushless motor and protection

A brushless motor holds speed in hard concrete, and anti-jam and overload protection prevent kickback and battery overheating. Read what is a brushless motor and what is overload protection.

Weight, vibration and ergonomics

Weight with the battery is usually 4–7 kg. Guide rollers, a clear depth scale and a second handle help keep the chase straight and reduce fatigue. See tool ergonomics, weight, and safety systems and what is vibration level.

Safe operation

Before chasing, check the wall for cables and pipes, work with both hands and wear glasses and ear protection. Read how to use cordless tools safely.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless wall chasers by voltage, blade diameter, chase depth and width, dust extraction and weight and choose the right model for your jobs.
