A detailed buying guide: how to choose a caulking or foam gun.
Caulking and foam guns apply silicone, acrylic, adhesive and foam accurately and economically when fitting windows and doors, in bathrooms, on roofs and when sealing joints. This section includes skeleton, half-barrel and closed-barrel caulking guns, plus metal and PTFE-coated foam guns. The types are separated by a filter. General guide: how to choose manual fastening tools: staplers, riveters and applicator guns.
A skeleton gun is inexpensive and suits household use, a half-barrel gun holds the cartridge more securely, and a closed-barrel gun also works with sausage packs. A foam gun screws onto the can.
A standard cartridge is 280-310 ml, while professional sausage packs are 400-600 ml. Choose the gun for the pack you use most.
A gun with a high thrust ratio easily dispenses thick polyurethane sealants and adhesives, and a pressure release system prevents dripping after use.
A metal or PTFE-coated foam gun resists foam build-up, has an adjusting screw and is designed to last through many cans.
When changing cans, flush the foam gun with a dedicated cleaner, and remove residue from the caulking gun. Read how to maintain, store and organize hand tools.
Expanding foam sticks to skin and is hard to remove, so wear gloves: how to choose work gloves, and work in a well-ventilated area.
At ToolsArmenia you can choose a caulking or foam gun by type, cartridge volume and body.
