Cordless Delta Sanders: Detail Sanders for Corners and Tight Spots

Cordless Delta Sanders: Detail Sanders for Corners and Tight Spots

Cordless Delta Sanders

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless sander or polisher.

This section covers 12, 18 and 20 V class cordless delta (detail) sanders with a triangular, iron-shaped pad. They are used for sanding corners, tight spots, window frames, shutters, chairs and small furniture parts that a larger pad cannot reach. With no cable, you can work freely at a window, on a ladder or inside furniture — at home, in the country house and in the workshop.

What to consider when choosing a cordless delta sander

Type and purpose

A delta sander is a type of orbital sander with a triangular pad whose pointed tip reaches into corners and narrow openings. It is slower on large surfaces, so it is often used alongside a random orbital or sheet sander, and a compact 12–18 V model suits home use.

Pad size, orbit and sheet compatibility

A delta pad side is usually 93–100 mm, the oscillation rate is 10,000–22,000 opm and the orbit about 1.4–2 mm. Sheets attach by hook-and-loop, and their shape and holes must match the pad, while a rotating or replaceable tip extends pad life. See delta sander pad size, orbit, and sanding sheet compatibility.

Battery voltage and capacity

The 12 V and 18–20 V classes are common for delta sanders, and it makes sense to pick the platform whose batteries you already own. A compact 2.0–4.0 Ah battery keeps the tool light for work in tight spots. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).

Motor

A brushless motor is compact, holds its rate under pressure and runs longer per charge. Brushed models are enough for occasional home jobs. See brushed and brushless motor.

Dust extraction

Check for a dust box or filter and a vacuum port, and make sure the pad and sheet holes line up. Dust builds up quickly in tight spots, so good extraction improves visibility and extends sheet life.

Vibration, weight and ergonomics

Cordless delta sanders weigh about 1–1.6 kg with battery, and a slim grip lets you guide the pad tip precisely. Low vibration matters during long work on small parts. See what is vibration level.

Safe operation

Wear a respirator and safety glasses when sanding old paint, clamp small parts securely and remove the battery before changing the sheet. Read how to use cordless tools safely.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless delta sanders by pad size, oscillation rate, voltage, motor type and dust extraction and choose the right model for your jobs.
