Cordless Mixers: Paddle Mixers for Adhesive, Plaster and Paint

Cordless Mixers: Paddle Mixers for Adhesive, Plaster and Paint

Cordless Mixers

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless mixer.

This section covers cordless construction mixers — handheld paddle mixers in the 18–20 V class and more powerful 36–40 V models for mixing tile adhesive, filler, plaster, self-levelling compounds, paint and other liquid and viscous materials. Having no cable is convenient where there is no socket or an extension lead gets in the way: on site, on a roof, in the yard or during flat renovation. The category suits professional tradespeople and building crews as well as home renovation. For the general principles of choosing corded mixers, read how to choose a construction mixer.

What to consider when choosing a cordless mixer

Type and purpose

18–20 V mixers suit batches of up to 20–30 l and light materials, while 36–40 V models handle heavy adhesives, plaster and larger volumes. Household models are designed for occasional use, professional ones for daily workloads. See differences between professional and household power tools.

Speed, gears and torque

Viscous mixes need a low speed of about 0–400 rpm and high torque, while liquid paints can be mixed at up to 600–800 rpm. A two-speed gearbox and variable speed control let you mix without splashing. Read what is rotational speed (RPM) and torque (N·m).

Paddle and fitting

The paddle diameter (usually 100–140 mm) and spiral direction should match the material: down-pushing paddles for heavy mixes, up-lifting ones for liquid materials. Check the fitting: M14 thread, HEX or a geared chuck. See how to choose a mixer paddle.

Voltage and battery capacity

Mixing is a long, high-load job, so 4–6 Ah batteries are preferable for 18–20 V models. Higher voltage holds torque in dense materials, while capacity determines how many batches you can mix per charge. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).

Platform and kit contents

If you already own tools on the same platform, you can choose a body-only version and use your existing batteries. For a first tool, a kit with a battery and charger is the better choice. Read what is a unified battery platform and how to choose a battery and charger.

Brushless motor

A brushless motor runs cooler in heavy mixes, lasts longer per charge and needs no maintenance. This is especially important in a dusty construction environment. See what is a brushless motor.

Ergonomics and weight

Cordless mixers weigh about 3–6 kg, so two rubberised handles and good balance matter. A trigger lock and soft start reduce strain on the hands. Read tool ergonomics, weight, and safety systems.

Safety

Lower the paddle into the bucket before switching on, start at low speed and hold the tool firmly to avoid a kick if the paddle jams. Wear goggles and gloves. See how to use cordless tools safely and how to use a construction mixer safely.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless mixers by voltage, speed, paddle fitting, battery capacity and weight and choose the right model for your mixes.
