Cordless Jobsite Radios and Speakers: 12–40 V with Bluetooth

Cordless Jobsite Radios and Speakers: 12–40 V with Bluetooth

Cordless Jobsite Radios and Speakers

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless jobsite radio.

This section covers cordless jobsite radios and Bluetooth speakers that run on 10.8–12 V, 14.4–18 V and 20 V tool batteries, and in some models 36–40 V, with many also running on mains power. They are designed for building sites, workshops, garages and renovation jobs, but are just as handy in the yard, in the country and outdoors. A tough housing, a protective frame and no cable let you place them right in the work zone. For general selection, read how to choose a cordless tool.

What to consider when choosing a cordless jobsite radio or speaker

Type and purpose

A jobsite radio has an FM/AM or DAB+ tuner and usually Bluetooth, while a compact speaker only plays from a phone. Professional models are tougher and suit daily site work, household ones suit home and leisure. See differences between professional and household power tools.

Sound output and quality

Output ranges from 5–10 W on compact models to 20–40 W or more on large radios, and a separate subwoofer improves the bass. On a noisy site, high volume without distortion matters. Read what is noise level in db.

Battery voltage and runtime

A radio uses little power, so with an 18–20 V 4–5 Ah battery it can play for 8–20 hours depending on volume. 10.8–12 V models are lighter, and multi-voltage radios accept batteries of different classes. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).

Platform, mains power and kit

Radios are mostly sold body-only, so choose a model for your tool platform. Some mains-powered radios can also charge the fitted battery. Read what is a unified battery platform and how to choose a battery and charger.

Protection and durability

On site, a roll cage or rubber corners, an impact-resistant housing and dust and splash protection of IP54 or higher matter. The battery compartment should be enclosed. See what is an IP rating and how to protect a tool from dust and moisture.

Connectivity, USB and extras

Check the Bluetooth version and range, the AUX input and a USB output for charging a phone. Some models add a mains socket, a light or a mode for linking several speakers. Read how to choose batteries, chargers and electronic spare parts for cordless tools.

Safe use

Place the radio where it does not block walkways or risk falling from height, and never turn up the volume instead of wearing hearing protection during noisy work. The volume should let you hear warning signals and co-workers. See how to use cordless tools safely and how to choose hearing protection.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless jobsite radios and speakers by voltage, sound output, connectivity, protection rating and power options and choose the right model for your platform.
