Cordless Glue Guns: Hot-Melt Guns for 7 mm and 11 mm Sticks

Cordless Glue Guns: Hot-Melt Guns for 7 mm and 11 mm Sticks

Cordless Glue Guns

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless glue gun.

This section covers 12, 18 and 20 V class cordless hot-glue guns for 7 mm and 11 mm glue sticks. They are used for bonding wood, cardboard, fabric, plastic and ceramics, for decoration, model-making, packaging, minor furniture repairs and securing cables. With no cord, you can move freely around the workpiece and work far from a socket — in the workshop, at home or on site.

What to consider when choosing a cordless glue gun

Type and stick diameter

7 mm stick guns are light and handy for crafts, decoration and small parts, while 11 mm models deliver more glue and suit furniture, packaging and construction work. The stick diameter must match the gun exactly.

Heat-up time and temperature

Cordless glue guns usually heat up in 15 seconds to 3 minutes and work at about 150–200 °C. A lower temperature suits fabric, foam and heat-sensitive materials, a higher one suits wood and strong joints.

Glue output

Glue output is usually 5–20 g/min depending on stick diameter and temperature; higher output speeds up long seams and large surfaces. A smooth trigger feed and anti-drip valve give precise dosing. See how to choose a hot glue gun: stick diameter, temperature, and glue output.

Battery voltage and capacity

The 12 V and 18–20 V classes are common for glue guns, and a 2.0 Ah battery usually lasts 1–2 hours of intermittent work. Heating uses most of the energy, so a higher-capacity battery extends runtime. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).

Platform and kit contents

If you already own batteries for the same platform, you can choose a body-only version; for a first purchase, a kit with battery, charger and a set of glue sticks is more practical. Batteries from different makers are not interchangeable. Read what is a unified battery platform and how to choose a battery and charger.

Nozzle, stand and ergonomics

Interchangeable nozzles (narrow, long, wide) let you apply glue in hard-to-reach spots, while a fold-out stand keeps the hot gun off the table. A heat indicator and a weight of 0.4–0.8 kg make longer sessions easier.

Safe operation

The nozzle and molten glue reach up to 200 °C, so do not touch them, wear gloves and rest the gun only on its stand. After work, remove the battery and let the tool cool down. Read how to use cordless tools safely and tool safety systems and their purpose.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless glue guns by stick diameter, heat-up time, temperature, glue output and voltage and choose the right model for your jobs.
