Pneumatic Caulking Guns: for Cartridges and Sausage Packs

Pneumatic Caulking Guns: for Cartridges and Sausage Packs

Pneumatic Caulking Guns

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a pneumatic caulking gun.

This section covers pneumatic caulking guns for 310 ml cartridges, 400 and 600 ml sausage packs, and combination models. They are used to apply silicone, polyurethane and MS polymer sealants, construction adhesives and auto glass urethane evenly. These guns are used in construction, window and facade installation, car workshops and body repair. They allow long work without hand fatigue, but require an electric or petrol compressor.

What to consider when choosing a pneumatic caulking gun

Type and purpose

Open-frame models take rigid 310 ml cartridges, while closed-barrel models take 400 or 600 ml sausage packs, and many work with both formats. For large jobs, sausage packs are more economical and leave less waste. See what pneumatic tools are and how they work and how to choose a cordless caulking gun.

Barrel capacity and nozzles

Barrel length determines the largest pack, 310, 400 or 600 ml; a long barrel needs refilling less often but is heavier. Check that various nozzles and tips are included and that the barrel, piston and cap are available as spare parts. See how to choose spare parts for pneumatic and hydraulic tools.

Pressure regulator and flow control

A built-in regulator lets you set the pressure, usually within 1–7 bar, according to the viscosity of the material. Runny silicone needs low pressure, while thick polyurethane and auto glass adhesives need more. Read how to choose compressor working pressure.

Anti-drip system

When the trigger is released, an anti-drip valve quickly vents pressure in the barrel so the sealant stops flowing. This saves material and gives a clean bead, especially on facades and glass. Always release pressure before opening the barrel. Read how to use pneumatic tools safely.

Air consumption and compressor

A caulking gun uses little air, typically 50–120 l/min at 6.2–6.3 bar, so even a small compressor is enough. What matters is that the compressor holds steady pressure so the bead stays even. Read how to calculate compressor air delivery and how to choose an air compressor.

Air inlet thread and quick coupler

Guns have a 1/4" inlet thread fitted with a EURO, ORION or RAPID quick coupler. When working on facades and ladders, a light polyurethane hose that does not drag on the hand is convenient. See how to choose an air hose and quick couplers.

Dry and clean air

Moisture can speed up curing of polyurethane sealant in the barrel and damage the piston. Use a filter-regulator and drain the compressor tank regularly. See how to prepare compressed air: condensate, filters, regulators, and lubricators and how to store and maintain an air compressor.

Ergonomics and protection

A light aluminium barrel, comfortable handle and smooth trigger reduce fatigue on long beads. Wear gloves, and safety glasses when working overhead. Read how to choose work gloves and how to choose safety glasses.

Cleaning and maintenance

After work, clean the barrel and piston before the sealant cures and replace the piston seal in good time. See how to choose seals, gaskets, O-rings and repair kits.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare pneumatic caulking guns by pack format, barrel capacity, pressure control and anti-drip system and choose the right model for your materials.
