Cordless Fans: Battery-Powered Models 12–40 V

Cordless Fans: Battery-Powered Models 12–40 V

Cordless Fans

A detailed buying guide: how to choose a cordless fan.

This section covers cordless fans — desk, floor and hanging models, as well as hybrid fans that run on either a battery or mains power. Fans on tool platforms are mostly 12, 18 and 20 V, while large floor models also come in 36–40 V. They are used on construction sites, in workshops, garages and lofts, and also at home, in the country and when camping — wherever there is no socket or a cable gets in the way. For the general selection principles, read how to choose a fan.

What to consider when choosing a cordless fan

Type and purpose

Compact desk fans suit a workstation or home, floor models suit ventilating a room or workshop, and hanging models suit scaffolding and building sites. Hybrid models can also run from a mains adapter. See how to choose a cordless tool.

Airflow and size

Tool-platform fans usually have 18–46 cm blades and move from a few hundred up to 5000 m³/h or more. Two or three speed settings and tilt adjustment let you direct the airflow and save battery. Read fan types and airflow capacity (m³/h).

Battery voltage and runtime

12 V is enough for a small desk fan, 18–20 V is the universal option, and 36–40 V powers large floor models. With a 4–5 Ah battery, a fan on low speed can run for 4–10 hours or more. See cordless tool voltage (V) and battery capacity (Ah).

Platform, mains adapter and kit

Fans are often sold body-only, so choose a model that matches your tool platform. A mains adapter lets it run all day, and a USB output lets you charge a phone. Read what is a unified battery platform and how to choose a battery and charger.

Motor and efficiency

A brushless motor uses less energy, runs longer on a single charge and needs almost no maintenance. This is especially useful for fans that run for hours. See what is a brushless motor.

Noise level

At home and in the office low noise matters — around 40–55 dB on low speed — while on site a strong airflow comes first. Compare noise at the same speed setting. Read what is noise level in db.

Protection and build

For site use, choose a sturdy housing, a protective frame, a hanging hook and dust and splash protection such as IP54. A folding handle makes it easier to carry. See what is an IP rating.

Safe use

Place the fan on a stable surface, never push fingers or objects through the guard and remove the battery before cleaning. Do not aim the airflow at dusty surfaces or an open flame. Read how to use fans and dehumidifiers safely.

At ToolsArmenia you can compare cordless fans by type, blade diameter, airflow, voltage, runtime and power options and choose the right model for your workplace or home.
