A detailed buying guide: how to choose a clamp.
Clamps press parts together or to the workbench while gluing, welding, drilling and assembling. This section includes F and G clamps, one-handed quick clamps, spring, corner and band clamps. General guide: how to choose clamps, vises and holding tools.
An F clamp with a long bar suits woodworking, a G clamp is strong for metalwork and welding, a quick clamp works with one hand, and a corner clamp holds parts at 90°.
Choose a clamp whose opening is slightly larger than the parts being clamped and whose throat depth reaches the centre of the workpiece.
A steel bar and cast body do not flex under strong clamping, while a plastic handle and soft pads leave no marks. Read hand tool materials, hardness, coatings and ergonomics.
Gluing usually needs several clamps of the same size to spread the pressure evenly. A set of different sizes is handy.
Do not overtighten the clamp, and check the part is held firmly before you start working. Read how to use hand tools safely.
Clean glue and chips off the screw and bar, and oil the screw. Read how to maintain, store and organize hand tools.
At ToolsArmenia you can choose a clamp by type, opening and throat depth for woodworking, metalwork and welding.
