Weighing Scales

A detailed buying guide: how to choose weighing scales.

Scales determine the weight of goods, materials and loads in warehouses, shops, building sites and at home. This section includes electronic scales from 3-500 kg, mechanical scales from 20-150 kg and a 500 kg crane scale. General guide: how to choose hand measuring, marking and layout tools.

What to consider when choosing scales

Maximum load

Choose scales with about 20-30% headroom over your heaviest load: up to 10 kg for small goods, 40-100 kg for sacks, 300-500 kg for a warehouse.

Accuracy

The scale division (for example 1 g, 10 g, 100 g) shows the smallest change it detects. The higher the capacity, the larger the division usually is.

Type of scale

Electronic scales are accurate and have a tare function, mechanical scales work without power, and crane scales weigh suspended loads.

Power

Electronic scales run on batteries or a built-in rechargeable cell. Check the operating time and charging method.

Safety

Do not overload scales beyond their limit and never stand under a suspended load. Read how to use hand tools safely.

Care

Place scales on a level surface, protect them from moisture and check them regularly with a known weight. Read how to maintain, store and organize hand tools.

At ToolsArmenia you can choose scales by type, maximum load and accuracy.
