A detailed buying guide: how to choose a spanner.
Open-end, ring and adjustable spanners are the basic tool for turning nuts and bolts. This section includes combination, ring and swivel-head open-end spanners, ratcheting and flex-head ratcheting spanners, and adjustable wrenches. Type and size are filters. General guide: how to choose wrenches, sockets, ratchets and torque tools.
The ring end grips the nut on 6 or 12 points and does not slip, the open end slides on quickly, a ratchet lets you turn in a small swing arc, and an adjustable wrench replaces several sizes.
Choose the size in mm to match the nut. A longer wrench gives more torque, and for an adjustable wrench the maximum opening matters.
A fine-tooth ratchet works in tight spaces, and a flex head lets you reach at an angle.
CrV steel and chrome plating provide strength and rust protection. Read hand tool materials, hardness, coatings and ergonomics.
Do not extend a spanner, and do not use an adjustable wrench for high torque. Read how to use hand tools safely.
Oil the worm of an adjustable wrench and the ratchet mechanism. Read how to maintain, store and organize hand tools.
At ToolsArmenia you can choose a spanner by type, size and length.
